The City of Gresham had an old wastewater treatment plant that needed upgrading and a new purpose.  Working in concert with Fred Gast FAIA, 3FFICIENT designed the mechanical systems with energy efficiency upgrades to meet USGBC LEED standards.

Project Background:

The city had an old wastewater treatment plant that needed upgrading and a new purpose. A 1950’s waste water primary digester building is being transformed into an environmental interpretive and personnel training center, administrative offices, and secure city archives facility.

3FFICIENT‘s Role:

3FFICIENT engineers worked with architect Fred Gast, FAIA and provided mechanical engineering developed both financial and technical solutions for the City.  3FFICIENT provided engineering services and ideas to help transform this brownfield site from an abandoned eyesore into an environmental marquis.

Solution:

The First Phase of this facility’s re-use and rehabilitation project has recently been completed. Ninety eight percent of demolition materials have been recycled and successive work will complete North facing natural day lighting monitors, under floor air distribution system, and utilization of on site electric power co-generation from the burning of captured methane gas.
